As many of you know, we have both spent a good amount of time volunteering with our church youth group, elevate, over the last year or so. Angie has been volunteering there for just over 6 years (man, that makes me feel old)!
In the last couple of months, the Lord has really impressed on us to surrender everything we do to Him - nothing excluded. Now, I (Angie) would have rather excluded things that I love, like being at elevate. But, we prayed and sought for what God's will for us is in this season.
And...He prompted us to begin making cuts on our time. Elevate was the first thing to go as we were investing loads of time into it. As hard as it is to not be with those teens we have come to love, we really believe God is leading us in a different direction for now.
At the same time we sensed the call to step back from elevate, we began having people over to chat and connect and form more of a community. It just kind of happened. Both of us have been so desperate for friends and a sense of community, it kind of took us by surprise that we didn't need to struggle and push to get to know people. I think it's safe to say that others our age are looking for more of the same.
This fall, our church (Bethany - see link on right of page) is going through the book of Acts trying to get a grip on how to really truly live like we are called to live as followers of Jesus Christ. So, we have decided to host a small group to together delve deeper into what God has for us in this season - and hopefully make some friends and form a small community while we're at it.
Lots of changes, but we are so excited to be following a God who always knows what is best for us. It's going to be a fun ride! :0)
