Hi all.
Tuesday the 26th was our second wedding anniversary. We decided since we're starting to feel like an old married couple at times we should do something fun...and well, young. So, we went to Valley Fair! For those of you who don't know, that's the local amusement park. We went on rides, got sopping wet a couple times, ate some delicious greasy expensive food, and had a blast!
We also discovered that we don't enjoy the same kinds of rides. Bernard likes rides that go forward while Angie likes the big loops, turns and curves. Needless to say, Angie would up with sweaty palms and a quick heartbeat. Poor Bernard had to choke back that fried cheese on a stick a few times while they were on Angie's favorite ride (the teacups!). :0) But, it was so fun!!!

one WHOLE year
Last weekend marked our first anniversary as a married couple! It really is an amazing milestone when we think back on how much time we spent apart while we were planning our life together. So, here we are, an old married couple.
For our anniversary, we decided to do one of our favorite things...camping! It was certainly an adventure. We booked a site at a state park in southern MN and spent the whole weekend relaxing, cooking over a campfire, touring a cave, and taking lots of walks. One of our walks was up this huge hill to an old cemetery - I (Angie) thought my legs would fall of before we got there. No wonder it's closed now to due to inaccessibility! Another walk was to the mouth of a cave that fed a river - of course no one told us we would have to wade through knee-deep 47 degree water (brr!) to get there, but it was worth it.
Here are some memories from our anniversary-adventure weekend:

the walking oxymoron
It's true, I have been known to refer to Bernard as my walking oxymoron.
(what does that mean, you may be asking) Well, I'll tell you.
Shortly after our wedding, I began to notice a few things that didn't appear to have the ability to coincide with one another. As much as I believed I knew the man I married, I have learned that living with someone gives you a whole new perspective. Let me give you a few examples:
- Bernard is meticulous in the kitchen, but his desk is a pack rat's haven.
- He spent five years getting a great degree in forestry, but prefers to spend his days working with Information Technology (in which, he has had no formal training or certification).
- Bernard is most definitely an introvert, but one of his favorite things is meeting new people in a big group setting (shudder).
- As you may assume from Bernard's training in forestry, he is an environmentalist - but of course he has no problem with using all the natural resources available (blasphemy to all those tree huggers out there).
There are many more instances, believe me. I love my husband dearly, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's this: every day is an adventure!
